Europe's Main Rivers
Europe's rivers include Danube, Elbe, Rhine, and Loire.
Danube- A river located in central Europe. It runs through Germany, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Austria, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria. It then empties itself into the Black Sea.
Elbe- Used to be part of the border between East and west Germany. Now runs through Germany and the Czech Republic. It is an important route for buying and selling goods. It also links many of Europe's major cities.
Rhine- Starts it's path in Switzerland and ends at the North Sea. Along its path, it goes through Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, France and the Netherlands. It is very important for tourism and commerce.
Loire- It is the longest river in France. It is well known for many foods and drinks. Visitors come here for the wine, cheese, fruits and vegetables.

Great Hungarian Plain- Plain located in the southwestern Europe. It is surrounded by many mountains. It mainly consists of grasslands, and of forests. It is very dry, and gets water from the runoff of snow from the alps. |
Mountains
Alps- Most known mountains in Europe. Found in the central part of southern Europe. Found on the coastline of southern France into Switzerland, northern Italy and Austria, then southeast through Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. They end in Albania by the Adriatic Sea. Known for the best skiing conditions on the planet.
Balkan Mountains- Start in Yugoslavia and end in Bulgaria. The most famous section of it is Mt. Olympus, known for being the home of a mythical man, Zeus.
Caucasus Mountains- Stretch across the area between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. They are volcanic and have many high peaks.
Atlantic Highlands- Made many million years ago as land was pushed up against Scandanavian Shield. Go through the United Kingdom.
